What's going on at the Bristol Library?

Remember those dark winter nights and the library’s even darker parking area? In a few short weeks, there’ll be no more stumbling in the dark, looking for your keys, and juggling all those books and DVDs you’re eager to enjoy.

After months of hard work by former Board members Liz Smith and Nick Cohen who gathered all the detailed information and quotes to apply for a New York State library construction grant, our little library was awarded funds for our project to increase safety and security by installing energy-efficient lighting in the parking lot and improving other exterior lighting fixtures!

We started our project this week so our yard is a little messy and muddy and there might be a day or two when, in order for the work to be completed, the library may have changes in our hours of operation.  We will keep you posted of any unexpected closures or issues on our website and Facebook page.

An Invitation to Serve Your Library

The Bristol Library depends on citizen involvement

to ensure that its services are as reflective of the community needs as possible. The Bristol Library Board of Trustees is a seven member board with membership appointed by said Board

to three- year terms. The Board meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 7pm. Meetings are virtual until we are able to meet again in person at the library. As a policy-making body, the Board of Trustees guides the development of library services. Effective trustees bring to the library knowledge of the community, a commitment to the rights of citizens to information,

and willingness to continually maintain and strengthen library services.

If you are interested in serving on the Library Board, please send an inquiry and brief resume to the email below. This expression of interest will make your name available for consideration but will not, of course, guarantee appointment. For more information, please contact our  Library Manager, Jessica Masci, at 585-229-5862 or email her at bricirc@pls-net.org

We provide library programs for children and adults including Storytime, Summer Reading Program, Memoir Writing classes, Book Club, Euchre Club, and our Fiber Artists Group.
