The Bristol Bookends
Memoir Writing Groups
Group 1: Meetings on select Tuesdays - Spring & Fall 12:30 - 2:30
Group 2: Meetings on select Mondays -Spring & Fall 3 - 5 pm
The first Bristol Bookends memoir writing class started April 2017; it has been at or near maximum capacity ever since. A second class was added September 2019.
In these classes we immerse ourselves in one particular memory that means a lot to us, based on weekly-provided topics. We flesh it out and write it down, and then go on doing that, one memory at a time. This kind of writing tends to be fun to do—and interesting to read. The sharing of these stories with each other has been a rewarding and inspiring part of the process. At the end of each 8-week session, our favorite pieces are compiled in a publication entitled Selected Stories (copies are available at the Bristol Library).
During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, both groups continued to meet online, via Zoom. In recent months the groups have been able to meet in person again, at the library or in Levi Corser Park.
